Modern Essential Oils and Health

In conjunction with how important it is to make healthy choices through the foods and beverages we consume, is taking care of physical and emotional wellbeing. Many of our classic, “go-to’s” for common ailments contain synthetics and work to only mask symptoms, and often offer a new set of side effects themselves.

Did you know that many conditions can be cured naturally through plant based medicine, or pure essential oils?

Essential oils are natural aromatic compounds found in the seeds, bark, stem, root, flowers, and other parts of the plant. In addition to giving plants their distinctive smells, essential oils provide plants with protection against predators and disease, and play a role in plant pollination. They have been used throughout history in many cultures for their medicinal and therapeutic benefit. One drop of pure peppermint oil is equal to 28 cups of peppermint tea, and the benefits can be received by the body within 10 seconds of its application, ingestion, or when diffused aromatically. Purity is key and not all essential oils are suitable for ingestion. Just as with our food, we must be vigilant in making sure the essential oil product we are using is of the highest standard and quality, and ethically and sustainably grown/extracted. With modern scientific studies trending toward a more holistic approach to wellness, enlightened consumers are driving a revival and a “new” discovery of essential oil application and health.

When selecting your essential oils partner, you need to be aware that the ethics of the brand or company are important.   A company like the Wellness Lab works to educate and share pure, therapeutic grade essential oils for prevention of disease or illness, treatment and preservation of health. They have chosen to work with doTERRA Essential Oils exclusively because of doTERRA’s farming practices, company ethics, and dedication to sustainability, and 3rd party testing to ensure superior quality.  They offer an educational aspect too, offering a variety of workshops ranging from a medicine cabinet makeover to mom and baby wellness, natural cleansing, cleaning closet makeovers, and customized classes and workshops.

I had a friend that used to say if you need surgery, ask for a doctor. If you need chronic medication, start with a homeopath – this follows the same philosophy. Oils can be used to treat arthritis, headaches, allergies, sleep issues, mood, anxiety, burns, bumps, and bruises, digestive concerns, skincare, flu, viruses, colds, infections, and more!

Essential Oils Tip! Fresh Fruits and Veggie Citrus Wash

Citrus Oils are naturally antibacterial, antifungal and disinfectants. They are ideal for household cleaning and can also be used to prevent premature mold and rot. Citrus Oils also make a good rince to cleanse your fruits and veggies of any bacteria and dirt they may have before use.
